Carbon Trap X Du Foyer
Our collaboration with Carbon Trap is a big step towards a greener future. Using nature-based solutions, Carbon Trap is a unique initiative set to promote biodiversity, sustainability and carbon capture and storage.
With the help of Carbon Trap, Du Foyer customers can plant elephant grass which stores carbon from their second year, as opposed to trees which can take 20-40 years to mature.
With each order at checkout, we offer the option for our customers to buy an elephant grass plant for 75p. With your order, not only will you be making sustainable swaps in your every day life, but you’ll also be taking practical action to save planet earthÂ
Carbon Trap are targeting three fundamental pillars, in order to create a more sustainable world.
- Biodiversity
- Climate Change
- Sustainability
Each of these pillars are fulfilled through regenerative agriculture. This is practised by the plantation and harvesting of their perennial elephant grass (lasting for well over 20 years), capturing carbon from the atmosphere and locking it away in the cane and soil. The cane is harvested yearly to supply material for sustainable projects within various industry sectors such as construction, packaging, and in the near future, textiles.
Alongside the biodiversity offered by elephant grass, Carbon Trap also plant wildflower areas within the crop for the bees, butterflies and birds that are vitally important to our ecosystems.
“We will use Nature Based Solutions (NBS) to promote biodiversity, sustainability and carbon capture and storage. We will supply the bio economy with knowledge and sponsorship for the use of natural fibres in products that are appealing, affordable and sustainable.”
